John Colvin

First Edition Published 1999

The Battle of Nomonhan in 1939 ended Japanese ambitions to control Siberia, and led to the collapse of the British, French, Dutch and American Empires in Asia.  It is one of the most important battles in modern history.  Yet not much has been written about this Battle, the consequences on the region.  In failing in their attempts to conquer, the Japanese instead turned their attentions to Malaya, Burma, Singapore, Indochina and adjoining countries, in doing so broke the old colonial powers.  The authors account of this most decisive, but little known, battle describes both this bloody encounter in the Mongolian Manchurian borderlands, and its far eaching consequences.
