Modern Army and Air National Guard
Major James C Elliott, USAF
First Edition Published 1965 - Book is in an Excellent - Unread condition, complete with d/j
Back in 1965 when this book was published, much confusion has arisen concerning the dual status of the Guard: as the traditional militia of the states, with each Governor a commander-in-chief; and as a readily available back-up force in the federal military structure, with the President as the supreme leader. Examined individually in this book, the Army National Guard, and the Air National Guard, each with its own special methods of procedure, composition, history and responsibility. Identify how things have changed as modern politics change. This book was written in the middle of the Cold War, around the time of the Cuban crisis. Although it may seem dated, some of its findings are still very relevant today.
