F F Rainsford - Foreword by Lord Boothby
First Edition Published 1986
This book has been written almost forty years since the summer of 1948 when a few Dakota's flew into Berlin to supply the British garrison there, which was threatened to be cut off by the Russian closure of all land access by road and rail. It was the beginning of the Berlin Airlift. The author was at the centre of responsibility. It was he who reported to the Air Minister, and who daily held press conferences on the progress of the RAF and civil contributions. He was there to the end, and this is his account of the times.
