This was described as the first full length book about Ireland and Irish neutrality during the Second World War.  It describes how Mr de Valrea carried out policy of neutrality in spite of the fact that Southern Ireland was a Dominion, and that Northern Ireland, as part of the UK, was a belligerent and in the face of i9ncreasing pressure from first Britain then the United ~States to enter the war on the side of the Allies.  This book includes the comic and tragic life in neutral Ireland, the shortages of vital supplies, the crushing of the IRA the isolation and the unlucky German spies.
