Mr Herbert Hoover was described as "the most distinguished living American". The memoirs he produced covered three publications. This is the first covering the years 1914-1920 are more than an autobiography. They give a fascinating insight into a world that was socially, and politically, changing. It begins in an astonishing story of adventure across the world, with the young Hoover becoming a mining engineer in the heyday of mining development.
His career took him to Australia, and then to China. In this book he tells a vivid story of life in the undeveloped interior of both countries, and in the Boxer Revolution in the old Chinese Empire.
PLEASE NOTE: The book is in a very good condition, with tight bindings. The only damage is to the DJ which you can see from the photograph, but this does not detract in anyway from the quality of the book
