East Anglia at War 1939-1945
Derek E Johnson
First Edition Published 1992
Because of its closeness to occupied Europe, East Anglia was Britain's front line during the second world war. Home to secret weapons, dozens of strategic air bases and several vital ports, the region was a prime target for the enemy, initially by the threat of invasion and later through heavy bombing.
The author, blitzed out of London, was moved to East Anglia as a teenager in 1940 he became fascinated with the area and the period. During the 1960's he opened an antique shop in Clacton-on-Sea specialising in arms, militaria, coins and medals.
